Home How We Can Help Details Annual Tenant Recertification As a participating tenant in Community Development Long Island’s (CDLI) Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program, you are required to complete an annual recertification to determine your continued eligibility. Submission of recertification documents and applicable additional documentation is a requirement for continued participation. CDLI will contact you in advance of your annual recertification due date so you may complete and gather all required information. Failure to turn in all required information by the due date communicated to you could result in termination from the voucher program. Please note the following important information regarding your recertification: All adult household members (18 and older) must complete required forms, sign where applicable and provide all applicable additional documentation. All information must be complete and accurate for all household members. All provided documents must be dated within 120 days of the due date. Home How We Can Help Details The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) assists families and individuals by reducing their heating/cooling costs and improving the safety of their homes through energy efficiency measures. Owners/landlords of buildings occupied by low-income households are also encouraged to apply for assistance for their buildings. Participants who reside in a rental unit, please call our office to obtain a copy of the Landlord Preliminary Agreement for your landlord to fill out and sign. Program services are delivered through New York State Homes and Community Renewal’s statewide network of local service providers. CDLI is the provider of weatherization services for Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Funds are made available through the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. Funds are available for approximately 400 homes each year. Applications are addressed on a first-come, first-served basis. If an application is incomplete or determined to be ineligible, you will be notified within 48 hours. Home How We Can Help Details The Town of Babylon Home Improvement Program (the “Program”) provides no-interest, deferred payment loans to qualified low to moderate-income homeowners in the Town of Babylon. The purpose of the Program is to improve housing conditions and correct housing code violations by repairing and rehabilitating health and safety hazards, including lead-based paint removal. The maximum loan is up to $50,000, which may be higher if lead-based paint removal is required. There is no interest. Monthly payments are not required. - NYS First Time Homebuyer Grant Program | How CDLI Can Help
Home How We Can Help Details A deferred loan for the down payment and post-closing home repairs is available for first-time homebuyers. The goal of this program is to improve the quality of decent, affordable housing for New York and home buyers. Household gross income must be below 120% of the area median income based on family size. The deferred loan/grant can be up to $25,000, $32,500, or $40,000 based on family size and household income, and the number of repairs needed on the subject property. This is a deferred loan, at 0% interest, with no payments required and a term of 10 years, during which time any refinance or transfer of home title will result in the recapture of funds or request from the homeowner for the subordination of the loan if qualified. The home must be used as the primary residence and the homeowner is required to remain in the home for 10 years, or the loan must be paid back. It is required that 51% of the deferred loan amount must be used for post-closing home repairs. All home buyers are required to complete Community Development Long Island (CDLI) NeighborWorks® HomeOwnership Center HUD approved Home Buyer Education class and counseling. The Home Buyer is responsible for obtaining an Engineer’s report and CDLI rehabilitation staff will assist in identifying the repairs, contract with licensed and insured contractors to get the best pricing, and provide project management and oversight. The home being purchased must be located in Nassau or Suffolk County must be a co-op, condominium, single-family, or legal two-family home, and must be owner-occupied. The purchase price cannot exceed $470,000. The deferred loan will be secured with a note and mortgage. The income of all household members is used to determine eligibility. This program is in effect while funding is available. The program may end at any time. Home How We Can Help Details Housing Choice Voucher About Housing Choice Voucher Program for Tenants The Housing Choice Voucher program (often referred to as Section 8) assists families and individuals to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market. The participant is free to choose any housing that meets the requirements of the program, including single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments, and is not limited to units located in subsidized housing projects. Once the tenant and landlord sign a lease, the tenant's family typically contributes 30%-40% of their income towards rent and utilities, and the HCV program pays the remainder directly to the landlord. CDLI is the Local Administrator for the New York State Homes & Community Renewal (HCR) Housing Choice Voucher program for Nassau and Suffolk Counties, the Town of Hempstead, the Village of Sea Cliff, and select project-based voucher buildings in Brooklyn. For all programs, CDLI oversees tenant eligibility, lease-up, annual recertification, and Housing Quality Standards inspections of all units.
